City of Chicago Nutrition Guidelines

In partnership with the Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI), the City of Chicago Public Health Department, the Chicago GFPP, the Mayor of Chicago’s Office on Food Equity Council, and food procurement workgroups. I worked to create the Chicago Responsiveness Toolkit and the beginning stages of the City of Chicago Nutrition Guidelines. These guidelines would dictate the nutrition provided through food and refreshments at all community meal sites like the CPD summer meal program and concession sites like airports and city colleges. Skills required for and developed during this project are listed below.

Chicago Responsiveness Toolkit

Inspired by the New York City Nutrition Guidelines, the Chicago Responsiveness Toolkit team worked to draft nutrition standards for the city and provide culturally relevant menus and choices for community members to improve the health of city workers and push food management companies to make shifts towards offering healthier food options.
